Monday Motivator for Your Job Search – Work Harder Than Everyone Else

My dad always told me that to be successful, you need to work harder than everyone else.  If you pit two equally smart and talented people against each other, the hardest worker wins–every time.  This is what I want you to remember this week for your job search.  Working harder than other job seekers will put you in that interview seat and get you a job offer (or two). How?

Working harder for interviews means that you go one step beyond what others are doing.  While they are filling out online applications for every posted job they can find, YOU are finding and contacting hiring managers directly.  This is a harder thing to do than anonymously filling out job applications, because (1) you have to make the effort to find them and (2) you have to put yourself out there to connect with them.  But this is what makes the difference between spending months in the job search and having multiple interviews in the next couple of weeks.

Working harder to get the offer means you don’t just think about how you’ll perform in the interview…you practice good answers to interview questions and you spend the time to put together a 30-60-90-day plan to show the hiring manager that you know how to be successful in this role.  This is what makes the difference between having good interviews (maybe) and having a great interviews and getting multiple job offers.

Read more on this blog about how to contact hiring managers, how to answer interview questions, and how to write a 30-60-90-day plan.

If you need more help and specific instructions about how to do these things, get my:

  • Hidden Jobs Finder to learn step-by-step how to find jobs and get multiple interviews
  • 30-60-90-Day Plan to get an impressive template and my coaching on how to write and present a 30-60-90- day plan in your interview so you get the offer

I wish you the best of luck this week in your job search!
