It seems that there’s always been a stigma attached to being unemployed, and even in this economy, when so many people are without a job for a lengthy stretch, it still causes candidates to be uncomfortable and nervous about telling people that they’re unemployed. They don’t quite know how to handle the situation in the job search or in the interview.
Watch this video to find out exactly how to handle your unemployed status in networking, your job search, and job interviews:
Take the focus off your unemployment and put it on showing them how successful you would be at this job with your 30-60-90-day plan.
Peggy,
That was a great video and your sincerity really came across. Yes, being unemployed sometimes provokes me into lumping together a sad tale and it is just not good for my soul or wallet!
So thanks for reminding us that unemployment is just a temporary “status.” It is very discouraging when employers look at those where were laid off as “undesirable.” However, if that’s the organization’s or hiring manager’s perspective, then that’s not where I want to be or who I want to work for. I think you have a great product and service. Wish you continued success.
