Opportunity does not knock, it presents itself when you beat down the door.
– Kyle Chandler

Often, we need an opportunity NOW–not sometime in the fuzzy future. So I want to encourage you not to wait for opportunity to knock, but go beat down that door and find the one you need.

If you are in a job search, the opportunity you need is finding the job that will be a good fit, and getting the interview for it.

Waiting for that opportunity to knock is waiting for the job listing to appear, so you can apply for it. Making that opportunity present itself by beating down the door is contacting hiring managers directly. Don’t wait for the job to show up. Go find it. It’s there. Over 70% of all jobs are unadvertised or unlisted at any given time. I encourage you to go beat down those doors to find them. Contact hiring managers (this would be your boss, or your boss’s boss) and say, “Here I am, here’s what I can do, can you use someone like me?”

If this feels difficult to do, get my Hidden Jobs Finder and use it. It will beat down those doors for you and find the opportunities you want and deserve.
